Workshop Overview.

Get off Automatic settings!

This Photography Workshop, is designed with the complete a beginner in mind!

If you are looking to really get off Auto settings and gain a greater understanding of Photography and those settings on your Camera and this Workshop cant be missed!

What an opportunity, not only will you discover the wonderful and hidden beauty of South Lakeland and the historic village of Grasmere, but the knowledge and expertise you will learn will really make your transition from Automatic settings easier to grasp! We aim to get you at least shooting in a semi manual capacity (Aperture priority).

We will spend some time exploring the area, concentrating on the stunning views, lake and surrounding woods. This area is obviously beautiful, and has heaps of history with the historic Rydal Mount, the home of William Wordsworth in his later years. Penny Rock wood has a magical feel and the views over Lake Grasmere are stunning!
Later pausing for a well earned lunch at the gorgeous 'Potting shed cafe' within Grasmere garden centre ( they serve simply scrumptious jam & cream scones!) Lunch is also time to reflect over what you have learnt so far, a chance to look at your images and receive help and advice.

There will be ample time for each participant to receive some 1:1 Tuition, during the Photography Workshop. you will get to experiment with your own creativity, nothing is rushed. Students are encouraged to take their time, experiment and make a connection with their surroundings.

You can expect to learn about Creative composition, aperture and Shutter speeds ( depending on each individuals level of Photographic knowledge).

You may want to make a weekend of it? There are some lovely b&b's near by in Rydal Mount, Grasmere and nearby Ambleside, we can recommend several places we have stayed in previously.

We aim to get you onto Aperture Priority, obviously this depends on each individual. Each participant needs to have at least an entry level DSLR or equivalent Camera. Therefore we will ask before you book what Camera you have, to check that this Workshop is right for you.

  • What’s included; Group Tuition, with Emma Holt BA(Hons). Printed handouts for every Student to take home with you. There is ample opportunity to receive 1:1 Tuition.

  • What’s Excluded; The cost of your Lunch any further refreshments you may require. Please ensure you bring a drink along with you. Travel to the pickup point at Grasmere.
