  • 1 Day Photography Workshop, Experience.

  • Photography level; Intermediate. (Not suitable for a complete beginner - A basic level of knowledge is required; however, you don’t need to be using full Manual settings). If you would like to learn how to ‘Get OFF Auto’ settings, please see our list of Workshops for complete beginners.

  • Places; Strictly 8 SPACES ONLY!

  • Meeting Place; Outside Croft House Farm Cafe. Please arrive at least 10mins early, as the Workshop will start on time.

Buttermere Lake is a beautiful location for photography, the Lake and woodland surrounding are great for landscape and nature photography. There is no end to the amount of creative imagery you can capture.

Your Instructor Emma Holt, will be on hand to guide you through how to compose a Landscape image, how changing your settings can control which part of your composition has the main focus. And elevating your overall finished imagery through the use of a creative narrative.

Area’s Emma may Include are; How using leading lines within your composition can change the whole way your subject matter is seen. The rule of thirds and creating a balance in your frame. the use of contrast, texture and pattern to add interest to your photography. correctly exposing your subject matter, through Aperture control, shutter speed and ISO. Thinking about your perspective and angle, to achieve a completely different finished image. The use of using a creative narrative to draw the viewer in, no more ‘Chocolate box’ Landscape photography!

Emma, is well known for her detailed and atmospheric imagery and has been awarded ‘The most Atmospheric & Emotive Photographer in the North West. Emma has also had major Exhibitions across the North West, London and abroad. Her teaching has seen her School Win countless awards for best photography tuition in the North West.
Emma truly loves teaching and this comes across in every lesson she teaches! Her passion for the subject, will truly motivate and inspire you!

The Day will start at our meeting point outside the lovely and welcoming, Croft House Farm Cafe Buttermere, Cockermouth CA139XA.
There is a short walk towards the nearby Buttermere Lake and surrounding woodland.

Emma will guide you through techniques to improve your finished landscape imagery, often using the School’s ‘4 C’s’ 1) Connect, 2) Compose, 3) Capture 4) Create.

the group will pause for lunch at the nearby Cafe. This also a chance to ask questions and view other people’s images.

  • What’s included; Group Tuition, and some 1:1 Tuition with Emma.

  • What’s Excluded; The cost of your Lunch any further refreshments you may require. Please ensure you bring a drink along with you. Travel to Buttermere Lake. Cost of Car parking.

Important Information.

Please wear suitable clothing and footwear (Walking boots/ etc), the weather in the Lakes can be unpredictable ,so please come prepared. There will be some walking during the workshop, (Easy/Medium).Please inform at time of booking if you may have mobility restrictions.

When booking, please advise on Camera/ Kit you have and level of photographic/ Camera knowledge you have, this will help determine suitability of the Workshop.

No Camera? Emotive Capture has an Entry level, Nikon DLSR for hire, if you would like more information or would like to hire the Camera, please get in contact with us directly.

We now have a pay in two option if you would prefer, so you spread the cost. Please see the link attached in the ‘Book Now Buttons’

Emotive Capture Photography School, can not determine the Weather, every effort is made to ensure a Workshop goes ahead. If the Workshop has to be cancelled due to bad weather/ illness, an alternative date will be rescheduled or individuals may also use the deposit/balance paid towards an alternative Workshop or 1:1 Photography tuition. If the weather has changed for the worse later in the day, we appreciate how frustrating this can be, however, this is out of our hands, if this is the case we will carry on with the Photography Workshop inside ( Cafe/ Coffee Shop).
